Frequently Asked Questions

Why won't my QR code scan after adding a logo?

Make sure to use High (H) error correction and keep logo size under 20% of QR code size.

Can I add a logo to my QR code?

Yes! Upload your logo and adjust its size. Keep it under 20% for best scanning results.

What formats can I download?

PNG for images, SVG for vector graphics (scalable without quality loss).

What is error correction?

Higher error correction (H=30%) allows QR codes to remain scannable even with logos or damage.

The Complete Guide to QR Codes for Business & Marketing

QR codes have seen a massive resurgence since 2020, accelerated by contactless menu adoption during the pandemic. Today, QR codes are everywhere — product packaging, business cards, event posters, digital payments, and restaurant menus. Here's everything you need to know to use them effectively.

📱 QR Code Types and When to Use Each

URL / Website Link

The most common use case. Link directly to product pages, menus, landing pages, or social profiles. Keep URLs short (use a URL shortener if needed) for smaller, more reliable QR codes. Works on all smartphones without any app.

vCard Contact

Encode your name, phone, email, company, and website into a scannable business card. Recipients scan once and get all your details added to their phone contacts — no manual typing. Standard on professional business cards in 2025.

WiFi Network

Let guests join your WiFi without sharing the password verbally. Encode the SSID, password, and security type. Place at hotel check-in desks, café tables, or office lobbies. Guests scan and connect automatically — no password exposure.

UPI Payment (India)

Generate a QR code that opens any UPI app (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm) directly to your payment page. Essential for small businesses and street vendors in India. Works with all UPI-enabled banking apps instantly.

Email / SMS

Pre-fill an email with a recipient, subject, and body text — or pre-fill an SMS. Useful on packaging ("Scan to register your product") or event materials ("Scan to RSVP"). Reduces friction for customer feedback and surveys.

Plain Text

Display any text when scanned — no internet required. Good for offline use cases like product serial numbers, locker codes, or short instructions in areas without connectivity. The phone simply displays the text without opening any app.

🎨 QR Code Design Best Practices

A well-designed QR code is both scannable and brand-consistent. Here's how to get it right:

  1. Maintain contrast — dark code on light background is the safest. The minimum contrast ratio for reliable scanning is 4:1. Avoid light grey on white or dark blue on black.
  2. Keep quiet zone intact — the white border around the QR code (called the "quiet zone") must be preserved. Never crop the QR code right to its edge.
  3. Test before printing — always scan your QR code on multiple devices (iPhone, Android) before printing at scale. A design that looks good on screen may have contrast issues in print.
  4. Size matters — minimum print size is 2cm × 2cm for scanning at normal distances. For large-format posters or billboards, scale up proportionally (1m wide billboard = 15–20cm QR minimum).
  5. Logo overlay caution — QR codes have built-in error correction (up to 30% of the code can be obscured and still scan). A centered logo covering 20–25% of the code is generally safe at error correction level H.

❓ QR Code FAQ

Do QR codes expire?

Static QR codes (generated here) never expire — they encode data directly. The code will work as long as the destination URL exists. Dynamic QR codes (offered by paid platforms) can expire if the subscription lapses. Our generator creates static, permanent codes you own completely.

PNG vs SVG — which should I download?

For digital use (websites, social media, email), PNG at 1000×1000px or larger is perfect. For print (business cards, brochures, signage), always use SVG — it's a vector format that scales to any size without pixelation. A QR code printed on a large banner from an SVG will be as sharp as one on a business card.

Can I track who scans my QR code?

Static QR codes cannot track scans by themselves. To track scans, use a URL with UTM parameters (e.g. ?utm_source=qr&utm_campaign=businesscard) and monitor in Google Analytics. Or use a URL shortener service that provides click analytics before generating the QR code.
